One current and two former Wichita deputy police chiefs have filed a lawsuit against the City of Wichita and a number of co-defendants including: City Manager Robert Layton, City Councilman Bryan Frye and The Fraternal Order of Police.
The lawsuit was filed Monday in US District Court on behalf of Jose Salcido, Chester Pinkston and Wanda Givens.
The lawsuit outlines multiple counts, including Discrimination and retaliation, defamation as well as 1st and 14th amendment violations.
They claim that the city and staff retaliated against them as they attempted to make changes after inappropriate text messages were sent between some officers.
The city responded with a statement said in part, they are looking to vigorously defend its reputation in a court of law, and provide evidence to counter the narrative that has been publicly shared to date.
