The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office has charged a half-dozen people after a courtroom brawl last month.

The fight broke out in a Sedgwick County courtroom on April 8th during the sentencing hearing for Te’bryis Robinson, who was convicted of killing 14-year-old TrenJ’vious “Tubby” Hutton at Towne East Square Mall in 2022.

Before the sentence, the victim’s mother made a statement to the judge about the impact of her son’s loss. She directed angry comments at Robinson and several of his family and friends in the courtroom.

Some people became upset and stood up. Gestures and words became more aggressive and a punch was thrown, starting a brawl for about 30 seconds. Some people were ejected from the courtroom, while others stayed to hear Robinson’s sentence of more than 21 years in prison.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office investigated the brawl, including analyzing the video; detectives presented their findings to the District Attorney’s office.

The D.A. has charged five adults and one juvenile with misdemeanors for disorderly conduct.
