A drastically different forecast will be felt across the Sunflower State today, as strong northwest winds prevail along with falling temperatures.
So far this morning, peak winds include:
74 mph in Plymell (Haskell County in southwest Kansas)
Goodland 66
Russell 62
Salina 59
Wichita Eisenhower National Airport 54
We expect wind gusts around 60-65 mph or higher today. Driving will be extremely challenging if not dangerous due the winds, which will kick up areas of blowing dust that will reduce visibilities.
Power outages are possible as the winds bring down power lines and tree limbs.
