
An off-duty firefighter and two other people rescued a driver after the man's vehicle ended in submerged in a fishing pond. It happed around 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon on the ramp from northbound I-135 onto eastbound K-96.
Officials say they believe the driver suffered a medical condition. The vehicle ended up several feet from the bank. The firefighter broke out a window and pulled the man out, aided by 2 other citizens. The man, in his 20's, was transported to an area hospital in serious condition, but is expected to survive.
