Around 300 customers remain without power in Sedgwick County thanks to the early morning thunderstorm activity.
Widespread wind damage has been reported in Cowley County, with tree limbs and power lines down in Winfield and Arkansas City. There is damage at the Fairgrounds in Winfield also with semi-truck blown over. As of this report, over 1000 customers in Cowley County have no power.
Strother Field in between Winfield and Arkansas City had a measured wind gust of 68 mph around 6:30 this morning.
Winfield Police are asking residents there to stay home. Traffic congestion from people driving around to look at storm damage is slowing the response of crews working to assess and make repairs.
