The East 77th street bridge over I-135 will be closed for maintenance beginning Monday, Sept. 9, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Workers will paint the steel and bearings, reset bearings, repair berm and replace joints. It is estimated reconstruction will conclude and this section of roadway will be reopened in November, conditions permitting.
For a detour, motorists driving north on I-135 should take Exit 17 onto East 85th Street and continue south on I-135. Drivers commuting south on I-135 should take Exit 14 onto East 61st Street and head north on I-135.
