The Wichita Public Schools’ official student enrollment for the 25-26 school year is 45,075 students.
"Wichita Public Schools has more than 45,000 reasons to focus on our mission to ensure every student is Future Ready. We are developing our future workforce and future leaders by giving them the tools and opportunities to flourish now and in the future,” said Superintendent Kelly Bielefeld.
In 2023, consultant projections indicated a student enrollment decline through the 2033-34 school year. As expected, WPS saw a decline in enrollment this year.
Initial analysis indicates this is most likely due to the birth rate dropping in Sedgwick County and other student population shifts. WPS saw a decrease of approximately 3% from last year.
“Communities change over time and Wichita is no exception. WPS will continue to look at right-sizing our district to meet the needs of today’s students while building a sustainable future,” Superintendent Bielefeld said.
