
Fire crews battled a large building fire in south Wichita. The fire broke out just before 3:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon in an abandoned building at Pawnee and Oliver. Fire crews arrived and found smoke and flames coming from the structure, and called for a second alarm.

A fire spokesman said they attempted to work the fire from inside the building, but the situation soon became dangerous, when the fire spread into the attic. At that point the crews were pulled out of the building.
There were no injuries. The fire was brought under control, but investigators are still working to determine a cause.
