The Wichita City Council has approved funding for improvements to playgrounds and pool houses.

The council gave the green light to improvements at O.J. Watson Park and Central Riverside Park, along with developing a new interpretive playground at Pracht Wetlands Park. This work will cost the city $425 thousand.

$1.7 million will address deferred maintenance and increase security efforts at municipal pool houses. Troy Houtman, Parks Director, said the bulk of the work is planned during the off-season. City pools and splash pads will open on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.
