A hearing was held Monday to determine if a teen accused in a fatal shooting last March inside Wichita's Towne East Square will be charged as an adult. The suspect was taken into custody following the death of Trenjvious Hutton, 14.
The Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office planned to charge the teen as an adult, with first-degree murder. But, during the hearing, defense attorneys said they needed more time to evaluate the accused teen's competency
The judge ruled that the suspect would remain in custody at the Juvenile Detention Center, and a new hearing was scheduled for September 6.
