Six people, including four children, are dead following a shooting in Winfield, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
Winfield police responded to a home near Ninth Avenue and Stewart Street around 8:50 Tuesday morning after a man called 911 and said he had killed his family and planned to kill himself.
When officers arrived, they heard a gunshot and established a perimeter around the home. Police eventually entered the house and found six people dead.
Authorities identified the suspect as 53-year-old Ronald H. Williams Sr. He is believed to have killed five family members before taking his own life.
The victims included 44-year-old Kelly L. George and four children ranging in age from 3 to 9: Carol A. Williams, Ronald H. Williams Jr., Sarah K. Williams and Kelly M. Magee-Williams.
The KBI and Winfield Police Department are continuing to investigate. Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
