The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued a boil water advisory for the city of Sylvia in Reno County after a loss of water pressure tied to a pump failure.

The KDHE advised customers there to follow precautions, such as boiling water for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation or use bottled water. Also, they advise to not use ice from a household automatic icemaker.

Water used for bathing does not generally need to be boiled, but children should be supervised to ensure that water is not ingested.
