Road crews in Salina have been pre-treating bridges and other elevated surfaces ahead of expected winter driving conditions this weekend. Salt truck have also been placed on stand-by.
Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for about 2/3's of the state. The highest snow amounts are expected to the north and west of Wichita. But in Wichita, roads are not being pre-treated due to the rain forecast to fall first. City officials say the rain washes away any treatments, making them ineffective.
K-DOT crews will remain on stand-by if they are needed.
