The Kansas Senate Wednesday night passed a plan to phase out the state's food sales tax. The bill would gradually reduce the state's food sales tax over the next three years.
The vote was 39 - 0. The bill now moves to the House for passage.
The plan would reduce the current tax of 6.5% to 4% next year and 2% in 2024, with the tax expected to be gone by 2025.
