The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) on Tuesday, arrested a Kansas teacher for sex crimes.
KBI agents arrested a Topeka man, 38, on a warrant for rape and aggravated criminal sodomy. In May of 2023, the KBI initiated an investigation after a former student reported incidents that took place between January and May of 2018, when the suspect was her music teacher at USD 452 in Johnson City, Kansas.
The suspect is currently employed at a Topeka school, but was placed on administrative leave in June 2023, when KBI agents brought the investigation to the attention of school officials.
Following the arrest, the suspect was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.
The investigation is ongoing. Formal charges are pending.
