Lawrence Police are asking for help in solving an overnight homicide case.
The incident happened just after 1:00 Saturday morning. Several callers reported hearing gunshots in the area of 24th and Cedarwood, not far from 23rd and Iowa Streets. Officers arrived on the scene and began speaking to witnesses but found no victim.
Officers arrived at the hospital and saw a car speeding into the Emergency Department entrance. Officers pulled a man from the back seat, who later died from his injuries. Police describe the man as white, likely in his 20’s, with light brown hair.
Investigators have been working to get more information from three men who were in the car with the victim, who say they don’t know the identity of the man. Police have canvassed the area where the crime occurred and have spoken to dozens of residents. At this time, there is no suspect in custody and the man has not been identified.
