Man killed after overnight shooting in north Wichita

The Wichita Police Department is investigating after a fatal shooting early Tuesday morning at a gas station in northeast Wichita. According to a release from the Wichita Police Department, at 3:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Valero gas and convenience store located at 2011 E. 21st St.

Upon officer's arrival, they found a man later identified as 33-year-old Darries Mitchell of Wichita suffering from gunshot wounds. Sedgwick County EMS transported Mitchell to Wesley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:50 a.m.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and ask anyone with information to contact  WPD investigators at (316) 268-4407. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (316) 267-2111.
