Life in prison for a man convicted for a crash that killed a pregnant Wichita woman.
Javan Ervin,39, was found guilty in June for the death of Samantha Russell, 22. In July of 2021 Russell was struck by a car driven by Ervin who was fleeing from police investigating a robbery. Russell died, but doctors were able to save her baby.
During sentencing on Wednesday, Ervin stated he didn't even know Russell and feels he was set up by police.
Ervin received the maximum sentence of life, without the possibility of parole. However, his defense team plans to file an appeal.
