UPDATE: Arrest made in Wichita shooting

UPDATE: Wichita Police arrested a suspect connected in a Monday morning shooting that left another man seriously injured in south Wichita.Police are investigating a shooting early Monday in S. Wichita.

It began around 3:30 a.m. on Nov. 3, when officers responded to a shooting in the 2100 block of South Broadway. They located a man, 33 suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was transported by EMS to a local hospital in serious condition.

As the investigation continued into the morning, when officers later located the suspect, a man, 39, in the 4500 block of South Broadway. The suspect attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. He was found to be in possession of a firearm and was taken in for questioning.

The suspect was then booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on charges of aggravated battery, felon in possession of a firearm, and felony obstruction. The case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for formal charging.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 2100 block of S. Broadway, south of Mt. Vernon; a 33-year-old man who'd been shot in the stomach was hospitalized in potentially critical condition.

The victim underwent surgery; detectives are searching for a suspect and interviewing witnesses to find out what led to the shooting. Police have said this was an isolated incident, and there's no further threat to the public.
