Wichita Mayor Lily Wu tells KNSS News she recently attended a meeting focused on public safety involving City and County law enforcement and criminal justice officials. Wu says it's important for citizens to understand the collaboration between local law enforcement and the courts.

Wu says Chief Joe Sulllivan has been working on recruiting and retaining more police officers, and she's seen a difference from last year. Wu says she is "pleased with those numbers."

Wu also says she is encouraging more transparency at City Hall, when it comes to travel by City officials and council members. November 5th the City Council will vote on making more information available to the public about who is paying for travel.

Wu commented during Mondays with the Mayor on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
