After six years on the job, Gordon Ramsay says he is stepping down as Wichita police chief March first, with no specific plans beyond spending more time with his family. Mayor Brandon Whipple tells KNSS News he talked with Ramsay when Whipple became mayor, advising Whipple to give attention to family matters and not focus too much on the job. Whipple says Ramsay's are "big shoes" to fill and he has begun important work in Wichita.
The Kansas Department of Labor pegs the Wichita area unemployment rate at 3.5 percent in November ... down from 4.5 percent in October. But the "help wanted" signs are still out, all over town. Mayor Whipple says the jobless numbers can be deceiving, that are people who have quit looking for work.
