The U.S, Department of Commerce is considering applications for funding in the CHIPS program, encouraging U.S. companies to manufacture microchips. Integra Technologies is proposing a big plant in Bel Aire that could bring more than two-thousand jobs to Wichita.
Sedgwick County Commission Chairman Pete Meitzner tells KNSS News a decision on the plant could come in the third quarter this year. He says it's a competitive process, but local, state, and federal backers make it a good "team effort". Meitzner also says the heartland offers a stable workforce and "good" quality of life. "We'll get some attention," says Meitzner.
At Tuesday's meeting, the Sedgwick County Commission will consider construction of a tall communications tower near Derby.
Meitzner commented during his weekly chat with Steve and Ted in the Morning on KNSS.
