Murder suspect arrested after Sunday's deadly shooting in W. Wichita

Wichita Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a recent homicide investigation.

The suspect was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on multiple charges, including 2nd degree murder, criminal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon, and an outstanding warrant.

On the afternoon of Sunday, June 29, officers responded to the west of 2nd & Meridian after the report of a shooting.

Officers found a 26-year-old Wichita man on the ground with a gunshot wound; he'd been shot in the back. The victim was hospitalized, and later pronounced dead from his injury.

Detectives learned the shooting followed a disturbance between the victim and four other males, all of whom fled the area after the shooting.

One person-of-interest remains outstanding. Investigators are actively working leads to identify and locate the remaining individuals involved.
