Three of the five members of the Sedgwick County Commission were up for re-election Tuesday night.

In the 1st District, incumbent Pete Meitzner and Kelli Grant were battling for that spot. Early voting results were neck and neck but Meitzner steadily increased his lead over Grant and won re-election by 2,388 votes, 54-46 percent.
Ryan Baty will be the new commissioner in the 4th District, after defeating incumbent Lacey Cruse, by 1750 votes, 53-47 percent. Baty talked to KNSS' John Whitmer at the GOP watch party and says the message from voters was clear.
"Over and over and over again, almost unanimously John in our district, they said 'we want more civility, we want people who can sit at the table, and work and built coalitions to move issues forward.' I heard it from the start of the campaign to the very last meeting I took in this campaign. They demanded more from their elected representative and that's what I vowed to be."
Finally, in the 5th district, the incumbent Jim Howell built a commanding lead, 3,791 votes or 58% to 42%, over John McIntosh.
