Kansas governor Laura Kelly, along with several Sedgwick County commissioners, toured the South Central Regional Mental Health Hospital on Tuesday in the southwest part of Wichita.
Workers broke ground on the hospital more than a year ago near Meridian & MacArthur Road. The outer work appears to be finished, though work inside the facility continues.
Once finished, the hospital will have a 104-bed capacity, serving Sedgwick, Butler, Cowley, Harvey, and Sumner counties.
Today, we got a sneak peek of the first new state mental health hospital in Kansas in 112 years.
