New stadium could spark Wichita rebirth

Brandon Whipple

Thousands of fans showed up for the Wichita Wind Surge's first home series at the new, 75 million-dollar Riverfront Stadium. Mayor Brandon Whipple tells KNSS News the return of major league-affiliated baseball has sparked economic growth in the area near the park. He says "we need to be thinking about that rebirth" for Wichita.

The mayor says "we did better than most comparable cities" when it comes to dealing with the COVID pandemic, and "we have a lot going for us when it comes to how we're positioned in this post-pandemic world.

Whipple commented during Mondays with the Mayor on the Steve and Ted in the Morning Show on KNSS.
