Improvements are planned for the Nomar district in the north part of Wichita.
The Wichita City Council approved $250,000 in improvements to the area at 21st Street & Broadway; $200,000 will erect a permanent stage at the east end of the plaza, with $50,000 for public art, including shade.
Wichita Mayor Lily Wu called the project an investment into the cultural assets the city maintains.
After public engagement and design work is complete, the city will begin construction in about a year.
