A Florida man is dead after a crash in northwest Kansas. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol a KHP trooper attempted to pull over a pickup truck on U.S. 283 south of Norton, Kan. for eratic driving after 10 a.m. Saturday. The suspect attempted to run from the trooper and a pursuit began.
The KHP Trooper initiated contact with the pickup in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The pickup spun and ended up in the ditch. The driver of the pickup, 29-year-old Derek Stortzum of Florida, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
