Firefighter hurt in south Wichita blaze

A Wichita firefighter who helped battle an early morning house fire was taken to the hospital after falling ill.

Firefighters responded just after 6:15 a.m. Saturday to a home in the 4000 block of E. Ross Parkway, near George Washington Blvd. and Pawnee.

Arriving crews said the single family home was heavy involved in flames. They quickly extinguished the blaze and conducted a search but no one was inside.

The firefighter was hospitalized for evaluation.
