Authorities are investigating an officer-involved fatal shooting. According to the Wichita Police Department it started when a man broke into a home in northeast Wichita Thursday night around 9 p.m. Officers identified the man and monitored his vehicle using FLOCK cameras. The shooting occurred on South Oliver, in a Spirit AeroSystems parking lot two hours later. A Sherriff deputy tried to stop the car.
Police say the man emerged from his vehicle with a rifle and began shooting. He was shot by the Sheriff and other law enforcement officers. The suspect was hospitalized and later died. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
