City of Wichita departments will be able to order high volume, low cost items from 5 online vendors, thanks to a new contract approved by the city council on Tuesday.

That includes Amazon.com services, Staples, Lowe's, WW Grainger and MSC Industrial Supply. These vendors have discounts between 5 and 63-percent and a couple of them allow for rebates as well.

Mayor Lily Wu said the contract will allow the city to be more efficient.

The council also approved a contract with Houck Advertising to handle a variety of ads in and on Wichita Transit buses and in several bus stop shelters. The three-year contract, with two, 1-year options, guarantees revenue of at least $100 thousand per year for the city.
