Oracle agrees to buy KC's Cerner for $28.3 billion

Oracle has agreed to buy Cerner for $28.3 Billion in cash

Kansas City, MO – Oracle Corporation has agreed to buy Cerner Corporation for $28.3 Billion in equality value.  According to a news release from the company, Oracle will buy Cerner through an all-cash tender offer for $95.00 per share.

Many business experts say Cerner has been an attractive company because it is a leading provider of digital information systems used within hospitals and health systems.

We are also very excited that Oracle is committed to maintaining and growing our community presence, including in the Kansas City area,” said David Feinberg, President and Chief Executive Officer, Cerner in a news release.

The news release went on to say Cerner will be organized as a dedicated Industry Business Unit within Oracle.  It says “Oracle intends to maintain and grow Cerner’s community presence, including in the Kansas City area, while utilizing Oracle’s global footprint to reach new geographies faster.”

Cerner currently has four campuses in the metro including near Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, KS and off I-435 and Bannister Road in Kansas City.

The deal is expected to close in late 2022 after federal regulators approve it.
