Wichita and Sedgwick County fire crews are still on the scene of a large brush fire which has been burning for several hours at Evergreen Pallet Recycling, to the west of 53rd Street North & Broadway.

Wooden pallets and mulch continue to burn on a 10-acre site on the grounds; fire crews are using brush units & aerial streams of water. The fire began Sunday evening.
Smoke from the fire continues to waft across the Wichita area, with a campfire-like odor and hazy conditions. The smoke is moving from the north to the southeast. Fire crews are monitoring the weather, making sure embers and flying brands do not escape the fire site.
