The Wichita Police Department (WPD) has arrested La'Niha Banks, 19, on charges of one count of Felony Murder, two counts of Criminal Discharge into an Occupied Vehicle, one count of Attempted 1st Degree Murder, and four counts of Aggravated Assault stemming from a shooting investigation that fatally injured Lationna Johnson, 19, of Wichita.
At approximately 11:10 pm on May 20, Officers were called to a shooting in the 1000 block of E 1st. The officers located the woman with two gunshot wounds to her upper body. She was transported to an area hospital in critical condition and with life-threatening injuries.
Lationna was later pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
The investigation revealed that the woman was trying to break up a physical altercation between an acquaintance of hers and the female suspect in a parking lot. After she managed to stop the fight, she started to drive away, but the suspect produced a handgun and started to shoot into the occupied vehicle.
