
The Wichita Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a weekend hit and run accident.
It happened just before 7:00 p.m. Sunday night. Officers were called to an accident at McCormick and Meridian between a car and a bicyclist.
Officers located the bicyclist lying on the street with critical injuries. That person was transported to an area hospital where they remain in critical but stable condition.The preliminary investigation revealed that the
suspect was driving west on McCormick and turned south onto Meridian striking the bicyclist. The suspect left the scene prior to the officer’s arrival.
While officers and detectives were on the scene investigating, the suspect later returned and was taken into custody.
The man, 30, was arrested on suspicion of Felony Hit and Run, Failure to Yield to Pedestrian, and No Driver’s License, stemming from a hit and run investigation with a bicycle.
This case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office. The identification of suspect will not be made until formal charges are filed.
