A police standoff with a suspected gunman at a south Wichita trailer park has ended with a man, 51, in custody.
A police spokesman said negotiators were able to talk the man into coming out of his home, and he was taken into custody.
It began around 11:45 a.m. Thursday when someone reported that a man threatening his neighbors with a gun in the 1000 block of E. MacArthur, near I-135.
Officers arrived and reported hearing a gunshot. They took cover and called for additional help at the scene. S.W.A.T.
was also called in to assist. Several homes in the area were also evacuated as a precaution.
The man was taken to an area hospital for the treatment of minor injuries. He was booked in the Sedgwick County Jail after he was released from the hospital.
