The Wichita Police Department (WPD) has arrested a man suspected of raping a young girl at a south Broadway motel.
Lorenzo Gary, 37, was charged with suspicion of rape of a victim under 14. The arrest stems from an investigation in the 2300 block of S. Broadway early Tuesday morning.
At approximately 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday, WPD officers were contacted by a woman, 36, who reported that a 13-year-old was at a motel in the 2300 block of S. Broadway with a man, identified as Lorenzo Gary. The woman said that she believed the two were having unlawful sexual relations.
Officers responded to the motel and located Gary and the juvenile, who were both transported to the Exploited and Missing Child Unit (EMCU) for interviews. Tuesday evening, Gary was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for two counts of rape of a victim under 14
years old. The case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office.
