The Wichita Police Department (WPD) is requesting assistance from the community in locating Patricio Gomez, 31, who is wanted in connection with a shooting that fatally injured Michael Martinez, 42, of Wichita.
If you know the whereabouts of Gomez or see him, please call 911. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
At approximately 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to a shooting call at a hotel in the 9400 block of East Corporate Hills. Upon arrival, officers located Martinez who had been shot. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.
The investigation revealed Patricio along with a woman, arrived at the hotel regarding an illegal drug transaction. During the transaction, a disturbance ensued and Gomez fired multiple shots at Martinez, striking him. Gomez and the woman fled the scene in a black Cadillac Escalade.
On Friday, the Cadillac was located outside of a hotel in Park City. Due to the violent past of the suspect and the violent incident on Thursday, the WPD SWAT team and crisis negotiators responded to assist. At the hotel, two individuals were contacted. Gomez was not at the location. The suspect vehicle was recovered.
