The Wichita Police Department (WPD) has arrested a young man, 16, from Wichita on one count of murder in the first degree stemming from the fatal shooting of Rashaad Hollingsworth, 27, of Wichita.
At approximately 10:05 p.m. on June 10, officers responded to a shooting call at the 2300 block of East Macarthur. Upon arrival, officers located Hollingsworth inside a vehicle with a single gunshot wound to his upper body. Hollingsworth was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased by medical staff.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Hollingsworth was driving his 2011 Chevy Traverse when the incident occurred. The suspect produced a handgun and shot Hollingsworth. Hollingsworth lost control of the vehicle and collide with a structure on the side of the road. The suspect fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers.
The investigation led to the identification and arrest of the teenage suspect.
