Community members are invited to lend a hand in sprucing up the city’s core during the annual Downtown Wichita Clean-Up event on Saturday, April 25.

The event begins at 9 a.m. and will bring together volunteers from across the area to tackle projects aimed at improving the look and feel of downtown. Participants will take on a range of tasks, including bridge painting, park landscaping, and trash collection, all with the goal of reinforcing the connection between a well-maintained downtown and long-term economic growth.

Organizers say individuals, businesses, and local groups have already committed to taking part, with more volunteers still welcome to join.

As a thank-you, Evergy will provide a complimentary lunch following the cleanup, while PEC will supply event T-shirts for participants.

“This event is a hands-on opportunity for the community to come together and make a visible impact on our city,” said Heather Schroeder. “A clean and inviting downtown is essential to attracting businesses, visitors, and residents.”

The cleanup will run from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by lunch at 12:15 p.m. Volunteers are asked to check in at 501 E. Douglas Ave.

The event is free and open to the public. Organizers say the day will offer strong visuals of volunteers working to beautify downtown Wichita.
