The Wichita Police Department (WPD), has arrested Arnthia Willis, 58, of Wichita on a charge of unlawful request for emergency service assistance in violation of K.S.A. 21-6207(b3)
At approximately 8:30 a.m. Thursday morning, officers responded to a shooting at a home in the 4800 block of East Arlene. Multiple officers responded to the call along with the Wichita Fire Department and Sedgwick County EMS.
Officers surrounded the home, blocked streets, and attempted to make contact with anyone inside. After they were not able to contact anyone, they entered the home but did not find anyone.
Through further investigation, it was learned that Willis had called a family member claiming to be shot as an April fool’s joke. Willis was located in Derby by the Derby police department and arrested without incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and the case will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office.
