A QuikTrip security guard remains in critical condition after he was shot while dealing with a disruptive person.

It happened just after 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the Murdock and Broadway store.  Officers arrived and found the shooting victim, 39, in the alley just across the street from the business. He had a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Investigators said that the man was an armed security guard employed by QuikTrip and had encountered a man who was causing a disruption inside the store.  The guard escorted the individual from this store where the disturbance continued at the edge of the property.  The guard ended up across the street and, after a short physical disturbance, was shot by the suspect, who fled on foot.
