A white powder was discovered Monday inside a piece of mail, delivered to the Sedgwick County Courthouse, prompting a criminal investigation.
The employee who opened the mail, began having breathing problems and was transported to an area hospital.
The building was locked down and the Hazmat team was called in. The employee is expected to recover. The Sheriff's Office and the FBI are investigating.
Additionally, late Monday afternoon, Wichita Fire and EMS were called to a Hazmat situation in the 1100 block of north Fairview, near Waco and 10th.
Investigators were interviewing a postal worker at the scene.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff's office is investigating, and say they have reason to believe it may be connected with the incident at the County Courthouse earlier in the day.
