At Wednesday's meeting, the Sedgwick County Commission will begin preparation for a new Integra Technologies microchip plant in Bel Aire, if the Commerce Department approves. County Commission Chair Pete Meitzner tells KNSS News Integra hopes to hire more than 2,000 new employees, and they may need specialized training. Meitzner says the county is ready to spend up to $100,000 for part of the training under a partnership with WSU Tech.
Meitzner says the Wichita community is lucky to have Integra committee to a future in Wichita after 40 years in business here. Meitzner says other states have tried to lure Integra away.
The County Commission will look at administrative offices in the future. Meitzner tells KNSS News the county may construct a new building, or it may buy or lease an existing structure.
Meitzner commented during his weekly chat with Steve and Ted in the Morning on KNSS.
