On Tuesday Aug. 1, Wichita voters will cut a field of nine mayoral contenders to two in Sedgwick County's municipal and school primary elections.

The Wichita mayor's race is the most important election in the Wichita area. Jared Cerullo, Shelia M. Davis, Bryan Frye, Anthony Gallardo, Tom Kane, Celeste Racette, Julie Rose Stroud, and Lily Wu are running against incumbent mayor Brandon Whipple. The top two primary candidates will face off in a runoff election on November 7.

Wichita school district voters can choose from a field of five candidates for an at-large post on the school board.

A City Council seat, District 4, in southwest Wichita, is also on the primary ballot, with four candidates competing.
