
The area's first storm system is inching closer to Wichita and is forecast to bring the first precipitation of 2024. The upcoming storm system is also expected to pull colder air into the area. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for most of the area due to the potential for accumulating snow and slick conditions spreading through Kansas overnight and into Friday.
Precipitation for the Wichita Metro is expected to start as rain late Thursday but switch to wintry weather early Friday morning. Motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time on Friday. According to Meteorologists at KSN, the highest snow totals of 2″ to 4″ are expected across the southern half of the area. A few isolated spots could exceed 4″ to the southwest around the Kansas/Oklahoma line.
Saturday and most of Sunday are expected to be dry, but by Sunday night another storm system will start to take shape with snow and rain developing.
