When a New York lady got out of her pickup truck to confront the other driver in a road rage incident, she was hit and killed by a passing vehicle, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The patrol said Lori Anne Maxwell, 54, of Gloversville, New York, died at the scene Friday night along Interstate 35 in Franklin County.

Maxwell and another driver, Adrion Michael Self, 22, of Emporia, were involved in a road rage confrontation for several miles, the patrol said. Self eventually came to a stop in the right lane after Maxwell pulled in front of him and stopped, the patrol said.

According to the patrol, when Maxwell stepped out of her truck to speak with Self, a passing commercial vehicle struck her and the rear end of Self's Jeep. The car, which was perhaps towing a blue bull rack livestock trailer, did not come to a halt.

Maxwell was pronounced dead at the scene.
