The Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission has approved a proposal for historical horse racing gaming machines at Wichita Greyhound Park in Park City, which closed 16 years ago.
The $100 million proposal from Phil Ruffin was the only one remaining after Boyd Gaming was disqualified, because it already operates the Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane.
The plan would add 1,000 devices to the old site of the Greyhound Park.
The license goes to Ruffin Holdings' "Golden Circle" project.
The plan would remodel the long-abandoned facility in Park City into a site offering historical horse racing as part of a casino, hotel, and nightclub. The KGRC approved the bid unanimously, 4-0.
The project is expected to bring hundreds of jobs to the area.
