The Wichita City Council has approved an additional $4,300 in funding to combat rising drug overdoses.

Back in January, the city awarded just over $20 thousand to Safe Streets Wichita to purchase around 4 thousand Narcan kits. The organization says around 3500 kits were distributed around town. To date, nearly 9 percent have been used, saving between 250 and 300 lives.

The additional funding will allow for the purchase of an additional two thousand Narcan kits.
