A man faces a murder charge, accused of shooting another man a week ago in north Wichita

31-year-old Tierell Washington appeared in a Sedgwick County courtroom, charged with attempted second-degree murder and aggravated battery.

On June 16, Wichita police were called to a shooting in the 2300 block of N. Jackson, east of 22nd & Arkansas. Officers found a 51-year-old man with a gunshot wound.

The victim was hospitalized in critical condition; police say he is expected to survive.

Investigators identified a suspect vehicle and located Washington and the vehicle using the FLOCK license plate reader technology.

Washington is due back in court on July 6. He’s being held in the Sedgwick County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
